Dialouge Part 1

I know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're probably thinking, Are you serious? This stuff is for preschoolers. Well, let me tell you something. It's not! Dialogue is super hard to learn, and it often makes no sense whatsoever. I tried to understand it but reading a few books, but it didn't help! This website will teach you how to do everything that makes writing confusing. Dialogue is more than just having a few characters greet each other. It's much, much, more!

Let's Practice!

Dialogue. This is what haunts me every day. Every time I look back at my old writing, it haunts me! Are you confused as to what I'm saying? Here, let me show you something. Maybe it'll help!

Example 1

"I'm going to the store now." She told me.

"I'm going to the store now," she told me.

Which one is right?

If you said number 2 is correct, good job! Whenever a character says something that ends with a period, ("I'm going to the store now.") you substitute that period for a comma. The reason for this is that this: "I'm going the store now," she told me. is one WHOLE sentence. It's not, "I'm going to the store now." The dialogue tag (she said, Karly groaned, she told me) will always be with the dialogue ("It's not fair!" "Oh no!" "Who's that?") in the SAME sentence. Make sure to remember this while you're writing.

That's all for dialogue: more coming soon!
